Linking math to favorite children’s literature will motivate your students to succeed!
Lisa Crooks, Connecting Math with Literature
This course has been designed to help teachers discover the excitement of using children’s literature to teach mathematics. A great story can often become a springboard for teaching or reinforcing a mathematical concept. This linking of mathematics and literacy effectively enhances children’s learning in all related curriculum areas. In this course, teachers will read the texts and will research methodologies and ideas from other sources as well. Using these ideas and sample lessons, teachers will learn to design and teach activities and lessons appropriate for their grade levels. This course is aligned with the Common Core Standards and may be completed with or without students. (Grades K-6)
